The rest of the current books (unless I'm forgetting one) are adventure modules. Nothing that I've mentioned after the Monster Manual is needed to be a DM. Having a decent comprehension of the three core books will help the most outside of actual experience. However, as an experienced DM, I have to say this is the core rulebook (alongside PH and MM) that I use LEAST.

The main improvement would be an expanded section on running combat encounters; I know combat is mostly in the player handbook, but really combat is the core of many games and it would have been much more logical to have it here/5(K). The books from the "main" product line of 4th Edition are split into Core Rules and Supplement books.

Unlike third edition of Dungeons & Dragons, which had the core rulebooks released in monthly installments, the 4th editions of the Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide were all released in June   I decided it was time to read those books starting with this one.

This book is first and foremost a leadership book, with a specific focus on leading in a digital era. The book follows the title with three sections: (1) Remap your industry, (2) Remodel your enterprise, and (3) Remake yourself.

Each section included 3 chapters/5. Digital to the Core is an engaging and intriguing read. The idea behind the book is that we live in a digital world and we must change or die.

At first read it seem to apply only to check, but nothing specify that the DM cannot choose the outcome. The only person who can answer this is the DM of the game in question.

Most DMs seem to allow some crossover of 3rd edition books, but others do not. Some only allow things from the core books. Talk to the DM (or your players if you are the DM) to see what everyone is comfortable allowing into the game.

Also, while BoEF is a pretty meh book for a lot of reasons (including those of taste), there's actually a lot of material that a DM may find useful for world-building even in a PG-rated game, since it discusses how different races treat sex, marriage, reproduction, et al.
