They also have a separate well-marked self-guided tour of the surrounding coast artillery facilities.

      For the self-guided tour a brochure and map can be obtained from the visitor’s center after 8 a.m. A flashlight is recommended for exploring some of the unlit rooms and passages. Beyond the Fort. Exploring the fort and surrounding batteries isn’t the only thing to do at Fort Pickens.   The book is less than 25 pages and outlines self walking tours in two segments highlighting points of historical interest. I especially liked the listing of historic sites on the last two pages, informing you if a fee is required or not or donations accepted/5(49).
